Responsibilities
A Production Manager in manufacturing or warehouse/distribution environments ensures operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently to meet output targets.
- Workflow & Planning: Design daily production schedules and assign staff tasks. Coordinate raw materials or inventory to avoid bottlenecks and maximize line speed/throughput.
- Team Leadership: Manage shift supervisors and line workers. Recruit, onboard, and cross-train team members while tracking individual productivity metrics.
- Quality & Efficiency: Monitor quality control to prevent product defects or shipping errors. Apply Lean principles to reduce waste and optimize OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
- Safety & Maintenance: Enforce strict OSHA compliance and safety protocols. Oversee routine and emergency maintenance for assembly lines, conveyors, and heavy machinery.
- Data & Reporting: Track key metrics like cost-per-unit, yield, and labor efficiency. Report performance data to upper executives and manage operational budgets.
Note on Work Environment: In Jacksonville’s fast-paced logistics and manufacturing sectors, this role often demands 45 to 55 hours per week to cover overlapping shifts and meet tight deadlines.
